Class 1: Put Your Best Foot Forward (variety of techniques and feet) Feet covered: 1C, 34C, 52D, 4D, 12C, 5, 10D, 20C/20D, 39C Every sewing machine comes with a set of standard presser feet for basic techniques. And we all try to push those feet to their maximum capabilities, sometimes with less than favorable results. This session will share how easy it can be to step up to a new foot, still designed for a basic function, that will open doors to your adventurous side. The standard, zipper, blind hem and decorative stitch feet will be highlighted while you create a sampler book of techniques.
Class 2: Best Results All The Way To The Edge (edge finishes and self-bindings) Feet covered: 2A, 10D, 63, 66, 71, 38 Add to your bag of tricks with a set of straightforward techniques that will allow you to finish projects with perfect edges. From quilt bindings to delicate rolled edges (including curved edges), learn how you can get the right finish by using the right presser foot. After all, with the time and effort invested in your sewing projects, you deserve nothing less than a perfect ending. Techniques covered in this class include: low bulk turned hem, fine edge finish for all fabrics, roll hemmers for light and medium-heavy fabrics, curved hems, quilt binding finishes, mock hand-picked finish on self-binding, all using the right feet
Class 3: The Ins and Outs of Applique: Feet covered: 20C/D, 23, 39C, 55, 29C, BSR A demo of embroidery applique can be done also. Appliqué made simple, whether it's traditional, reversed or with free motion stitching. With the right presser feet and accessories, appliqué is creative embellishment at its best. Learn and practice a variety of appliqué techniques, starting with the traditional method at the sewing machine, including satin stitch, blanket stitch and reversed appliqué. We will also play with raw edge applique with various stitching methods. We'll even appliqué with a stitch regulator! An overview of appliqué done with embroidery will be presented.
Class 4: All Tuckered Up: pintucks from small to large Feet covered: 1/1C/1D, 10/C/D, 23, 31, Pintuck Accessory, 46 Pintucks are just beautiful! They add both dimension and direction to a fabric and project. Learn the easy way to make professional-looking tucks using the right tools. This class will cover the following: Traditional tuck with Foot #1. Traditional tuck with Foot #10C or 10D. Miniature corded tucks on fine fabrics with Foot # 23. Corded pintucks with Foot #31, double needle and cord guide (Single tuck to show the difference - Parallel rows spaced 4 ways: every groove, every other groove, edge of foot, with seam guide attached to foot. Corded pintucks in the loop. Cross-over tucks (grid). Turning corners with a double needle. Decorated tucks with Foot #46. Review of all tucking feet.
